Orchard Care (South West) Ltd is owned by Mr Jonathan and Mrs Gaynor Thrush, who both have Registered Nursing backgrounds.

Mr Thrush has owned and operated care homes in the South West since 1988. Mr and Mrs Thrush are the sole directors of Orchard Care.

Orchard Care is responsible for the running of Restgarth Care Home, Polperro, Cornwall; Pine Lodge Care Home, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.

As the ‘Registered Provider’ with the Care Quality Commission, Orchard Care (Southwest) Ltd manages the provision of care at Pine Lodge and Restgarth Care Homes. Orchard Care is a smaller, independent care organisation where all employees, including its directors, are involved in the day to day running of the services.

We provide social care (‘with accommodation’) at both care homes, we currently provide help with community support with regard to unregulated activities such as shopping, cleaning and assistance with appointments etc.

In the provision of this care, we aim to provide a high standard of care to all residents and our community clients. We include in our standards the acknowledgement that our residents and clients have a right of choice in the style and amount of the care received. Further, whilst being in our care they will be treated with respect and compassion. Compassion will be at the centre of all that we do for our elderly residents and clients.

Orchard Care (Southwest) Ltd, is responsible for the employment of staff at both of our care homes. We implement a rigorous regime of pre-employment vetting for all staff. Staff are inducted and are required to complete ongoing training to national standards. We encourage the uptake of NVQ training where appropriate. As a company, we maintain an openness to our staff. As are our residents, staff are valued as individuals and yet also valued as integral components of the living organisms that are care homes.

Residents, clients, relatives, friends and staff are all considered vital components in the delivery of compassionate, compliant, yet a good old-fashioned style of care.
